Solar net metering is a system that lets solar energy system owners manage the energy generated by their solar panels. It is an efficient and ecologically conscious way of managing the energy produced by a home that has solar panels installed for their electricity. The cost of Duke Energy net metering may vary by state. Different states may also have different policies regarding caps and bill credits. If the credits accumulated are not used by the end of the yearly billing cycle, they can be paid out annually every March. To get connected to the Duke Energy net metering system, a residential customer may send an application and pay the corresponding fee depending on the sate and the size of the solar panel system of the home.

While it would be nice to have a bigger system to generate income, there is a cap on the size of the system that can be installed at home. Essentially, the solar net metering program was created to manage energy production, consumption, and distribution, but it was not meant primarily for income generation.
